Gary is one of founding partners of Mather Kuwada. During the past 25 years Gary has devoted his practice to civil and criminal IRS and State tax controversy matters.
Gary worked for almost ten years as a revenue agent and appeals officer with the IRS in Los Angeles. As a member of the IRS examination division he worked in the general program, large case, civil fraud, tax haven and offshore transactions groups. During the past 25 years in private practice Gary has successfully represented hundreds of taxpayers in civil and criminal tax controversy matters throughout the United States. He is the author of The Art of Tax Representations Audits and Appeals and The Art of Tax Representations Collections.
Gary was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1989 and was licensed as a CPA in California in 1988. He is admitted to practice in the United States Tax Court, the United States District Court for the Central District of California and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. Gary is a frequent guest lecturer to CPA and Enrolled Agent groups throughout Los Angeles.
Gary received his JD from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.
